First Visit
What should I expect?
First of all, I want to say that we will be more than happy to have you! I know it’s tough sometimes to enter a new environment, so we will do our best to help make it easy.
DRESS: We all dress a little differently here. Some still dress in their “Sunday Best”. Some dress more on the casual side. However, as a whole, we are not a formal church by any means. As the pastor, I tend to dress in a button-down shirt and slacks or jeans. I know it’s always on people’s minds when they come to church for the first time, but don’t let it bother you. I promise you won’t feel out of place.
KIDS: We love kids! We have lots of them around here! We are, after all, Family Baptist Church. Our members volunteer each week to sit in with the small ones in the nursery so that moms of little ones can participate in the services. However, if you’re not comfortable leaving your child, feel free to keep them with you. We are not bothered by any noise your baby may make. Also, most Sundays we have a Jr. Church for the kids. They love it! No matter your family structure, there is something for all of you here at Family Baptist.
BIBLE: You may be wondering about whether you should bring your Bible to church. If you have one, please bring it along! If you have a Bible app on your smartphone, that works too! I have been known to use my iPad to preach from time to time! As for translation, we use the KJV. If you don’t have one, just bring what you have. You’re always welcome.
GIVING: We are so happy to give to God because of how much He’s given to us. We usually take up an offering right before the sermon starts. As a visitor, we will never expect you to give in that offering. That is simply the time set aside for the church family to give and no one is ever pressured or forced to give. That is always between you and God!
I hope you’ll come and visit! I think you and your family will have a wonderful time.
